The Frederick C. Webster Memorial Scholarship was established for the purpose of annually providing monetary assistance to deserving individuals interested in pursuing a degree in the public service sector. This includes, but is not limited to, fire and emergency services, political science, public administration and library science.
This scholarship is sponsored by the NYS Public Entities Safety Group 497 Executive Committee and is dedicated to the memory of Frederick C. Webster. Webster was not only a former 497 Executive Committee member, but also a past chief and chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Elsmere Fire District in Delmar, NY. This scholarship honors Fred’s spirit, dedication and service to his community.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in an accredited two- to four-year college or university with a course concentration in a public services-related field. Also, the applicant must be sponsored by a current NYS Public Entities Safety Group 497 member. To apply, simply download and complete the application below and include required transcripts, recommendation letters and essay as outlined in the application. Only complete submissions will be considered for the scholarship award.
All materials must be submitted by February 1st for consideration.
A maximum of four (4) scholarships will be awarded annually at $2,500 per award.
